Paradise Found 2004

On Oct 21st, Positive Resource Center (PRC) held its 7th annual gala at the beautiful Hotel Monaco in Union Square. The weather outside may have been overcast, but the mood inside was warm and inviting. The two rooms were filled with large, bright, paper flowers, potted palms, and even a stuffed parrot! Guests mingled and viewed the silent auction items while sipping special Paradise cocktails, and savoring themed hors d’oeuvres such as ahi tuna tartare in a cucumber cup and vegetarian spring rolls with a honey dipping sauce.

The event “provides vital financial support for benefits counseling and employment services programs by combining the great spirit of celebration with the opportunity to build awareness and appreciation of the good work we do daily” remarked Brett Andrews, Executive Director for PRC.

It truly was an evening of tropical splendor as several special honors were announced. The 2004 awardees were: Keystone – Thomas E. Horn, Community Pillar – Sup. Gerardo Sandoval, Iron Advocate – Maria X. Martinez, Joseph Cecere & Eric Ciasullo (SF Dept. of Public Health), and Beacon – Sarah Thompson.

After a brief serenade by former board member Donna Sachet, the silent auction slowly came to an end. As lucky bidders picked up their winning items, the DJ picked up the beat and had other gala goers dancing and grooving to island inspired beats. It is safe to say that Paradise was found that night as smiles were on everyone – including the hotel staff!
